Sandy claws in May
It was raining lobsters at Gillespie Park the other night as the Lobster and Laughter fundraiser for Take Stock in Children came to a boil. Co-chairs Valarie Wadsworth and Lee De Lieto Jr. pulled off not only a great event but lobsters' claws as well.
Several guests came dressed in their best lobster gear ... Evan Guido in his lobster-print shorts, Laura Andrews walking the red carpet with lobster print sandals, belt and a matching handbag, and a wait staff sporting lobster ties.
The evening's decadent fare -- fit for a king -- included shrimp cocktails, clam chowder and lobsters flown in from Maine for the party, complete with bibs, hammers and directions for first-timers on how to crack them open.
Adding a funny twist to the evening were The Bermuda Mavericks (Les McCurdy and Ken Sons), and a hermit crab race with crab No. 7, Cool Coal Man, sponsored by Squitieri Associates, coming in first place ... everything against a musical background spun by DJ Sinna-G.
